A PLACE OF VIKING CULTURE
Hlésey is a small farm in a beautiful rural setting in Hvalfjordur. It is also the private home of Johanna Hardardottir and Sigurdur Ingolfsson.
Johanna is a journalist by profession, but is also an artist and a heathen priestess of Asatru, the religion of the settlers of Iceland.
Hlésey is located about 40 minutes by car from the center of Reykjavik.

Johanna has worked with runes all her life and knows the history and culture of the ancient Viking wisdom. As a skilled Rune reader she uses the wisdom of the god Odin to channel a path from past to future.

Only traditional, natural materials such as bone, horns, leather and stone are used by Johanna in her Viking art pieces. Johanna is famous for her drinkinghorns, Viking clothes, arm and legshields, jewelry, and Viking clothes. For more photos click here.

When Vikings settled Iceland more than 1100 years ago, they brought their chickens and dogs as well as horses, sheep and cows with them. Johanna and Sigurdur breed both Viking hens and Icelandic sheepdogs at Hlésey. Like other Icelandic breeds the chicken and dogs are colorful, sociable and hardy.
